08-17-2008, 1:27 AM PirateYarr Joined on 04-16-2008 Corvallis, OR Posts 106 Re: Oregon Riders Unite Yea speaking about that!  I'm pretty sure I just got initiated by the motorcycle gods.  I was down in Eugene seeing the girl and some friends and rolled out at 11pm.  This is the best trip I’ve ever had!  It started out with me riding north on 99W just watching the lighting strike ahead of me.  Then I blew by, literally blew by, the town of Junction City, which was blacked out from the storm, including the traffic lights.  With that behind me I'm on the open road doing a good 65-70mph and I can smell the wet hay, after being watered all day, of the fields to either side of me.  Dead ahead I’m staring down this beast of a storm.  The lighting is getting more intense and now the atmospheric pressure has doubled and the weight of the air is sitting on my chest.  So of coarse I speed up, just couldn’t keep off that throttle, had to charge the beast.  Then about 5 miles outside of Corvallis it hits.  The rain the size of nickels is being poured out by the buckets.  At first I thought it was hail but still not willing to slow down, even though all of my brain is saying ease off, I just couldn’t I was having too much fun.  The fun doesn’t stop there.  I get to the heart of Corvallis, cruising along around 20mph and all the people at the local bars are a hoopin’ and a hollerin’, seeing as I'm the only biker on the road, so I tip my hat throw up a hand and roll off into the dreary weather, as happy as can be!!! 1980 Cx500 Custom "Rusty Bob" - Sold New Bike: 1999 Honda Shadow Spirit VT1100C    Report

My wife is going to be transfered to Hillsboro after she finishes her assignment here in Orlando. Since I can do my job anywhere, and she makes lots more than I do, I guess I'll come along. I was kind of worried about the weather, you know the horror stories from people that have never been there. But after reading this thread I guess it won't be to bad after all. Since I do almost all of my own maintenance work I have a fairly complete shop. Any suggestions about neighborhoods that don't mind the sound of a compressor running on the week end. Plus the v-strom of course. We are thinking of doing the Pod thing. They drop off a container, you pack it and they ship it out to your new address. I have a trailer that's big enough to pull all the bikes. Man I just looked at all the pics again, just awesome. I used to live in Asheville NC and the mountain roads were really good, but Florida has just ruined me. I hardly ride anymore. It's just more comfortable to get into the van and click on the A/C.
