What exactly are these wires? They're cut.

So I've got a couple of things I need identified and explained if you guys don't mind.  Under the gas tank I noticed a small wire housed in a cloth sheathing that would run from the bottom of the right side of the radiator to under the seat.  And right below the gas tank are two black cylinders.  One has cracked casing...would this matter?  Here are the pictures...:

Use photobucket and post some images that can be seen, imageshack is always timing out and uses HTML code that doesn't work well outside of web pages.  I've got a 30inch monitor and can't make heads or tails out of the images posted.

The cut wire could be for the coolant temp sensor - if memory serves, I believe that's the sheathed wire running from the thermostat housing to the wiring loom.

And from the pictures, it looks like you have a cracked ignition coil housing.

Here we go...hope these are better.  Oh, and you have a 30" monitor??  Wow!  That's bigger than my tv!

Are either of these important?

Those pics I could see on an iPod!
Will check the bike tomorrow (my '78 should be the same), if it's not the temp sender as stated above, or no
one else ID's it I'll post if I can find it.
As for the large monitor...better than glasses once you reach a certain age....

the oil light sender wire (Blue/red)runs in the cloth sleeve
in the area you mention
the other (Green/blue) is the wire to the temp sender
Down to one project/rat bike now, when I get a 'round tuit'

The black cylinder looks like my ignition coil on my 79 cx, except it doesn't have the plug wire coming out of it to the spark plug? My original was cracked exactly like yours, I wonder what makes them do that?
