Folks, I have been told many times: The success of any event depends on how much you promote it. Be aware that as of today, you are going to be seeing daily promotions to our 2008 Amish Rally. It has been the most successful, enjoyable and inexpensive rally ever. We have the use of a large camp/lodge in a Pennsylvania countryside setting for only $6.00 per person per night. 80 gallons of hot water, two bathrooms, four showers, two kitchens fully supplied with cookware and dinnerware. Upstairs and downstairs porches for bull sessions, even clean linen and blankets. Did I mention, all this for a mere $6.00 per night per person??? I forget, downstairs also has a large living room. Sorry, no TV. Ask anyone who has been there.

There is a local restaurant/caterer who is wiling to cater a meal consisting of Chicken breast, steakburger, baked potatoe, coleslaw, mac/cheese and drink for $7.50 each. If that interests the leaders/or the group, i'll try to make it happen. Or if everyone is happy with the convenience of going to the restaurants, that is fine also.

Tony G, That caterer sounds like he has our interests at heart - to an Aussie, that looks like good value - except for my doc. looking over my shoulder and counting the cholesterol input to my system.

Your avatar's subject also looks interesting - hydraulic clutch actuator on a CX/GL?

Don, You'll probably have lost 20 pounds by the time you get to Pennsylvania. A big meal would probably do you good.

The avatar pic was pulled off of an ebay sale. The bike had 100k on it and was fully tinkered with. Braided lines, custom seat, hydraulic actuated clutch I think from a Goldwiing. It looked cool.

The advantage of a catered thing is that time is'n't lost going to and from or waiting at restaurant. I know that going to the smorgasbords doesn't make much extra time but we still lose an hour or more of traveling in the evening. I'm just thinking that it might be nice to gather at the cabin at say 6: PM and not have to saddle up again or be worried about hitting a stray buffalo on the way home from the restaurant. I hear that they have new "Buffalo Crossing" signs up... or maybe that is "Buffalo Crossroads".

If guys want to bring their own beverage they may....be it soda, barleygreen tea, Vibe, or 'other' beverage they may. We should have an ice chest on hand. I think I could dump my cx parts out of the 48 qt one I have.

I think he includes a tea and lemonade cooler in the deal.

We'll get some more input, and then I think for small numbers, he would even allow for a cancelation.

Now if it's real hot, the air conditioned restaurant would seem very nice. Plus, remember, were only 200 yrds from the resevoir for cooling off.

The guy did a senior picnic for the same price and was going over the menu items when I asked him about catering for a small group. $7.50 is a real good price I would think.

Options on potatoes, and veggies. How is broc/caulif/bacon salad for cholestoral?

Now yr in my ballpark, Tony. Potato salad sound good, and the broc, cauli, bacon "cut" sounds good, too. Price is right. Gene and I will just have to make sure that 18,000km of travel is accomplished in time to get there.
