Howdy,
I just picked up a subframe to mount a sidecar to my 79 CX500.. Now I'm on the lookout for a cheap sidecar to mount up. Does anyone have a Velorex or similar sidecar that they would like to sell.. Prefer a local sale
Thanks
Finn

Sorry, my Velorex is not for sale. That's one of my projects for the future also. Could you post some pics of the subframe you bought? have received info on this from SideCar Bob in the past, but more info is good. He advises that the lighter chairs are not strong enough for our "heavier" bikes, and he has a point. However, I think the intended use, season, and condition are mitigating factors, he uses his as a utility vehicle all winter. I have mine set up for a '76 CB500T for now, but it is dismounted at the present time. Small modifications can make a big difference in handling, such as bike frame trail. Also, the adjustments to toe-in and angle have effects that are hard to imagine until you have experienced them. Mine will hopefully end up on a GL, maybe a GL500. It was originally on a Jawa 350 2-stroke twin.

My sidecar is a Dneper. Pretty close to 300 pounds.
I'm guessing my subframe is from Dauntless. It attaches to the top right motor mount hanger bolts and the right crash bar lug on the crankcase. I hit a rock on the subframe and broke the lug off the crankcase, loosing all my oil. I repaired the lug and added more subframe. It now includes the left crash bar lug and the "H" box mount at the back of the motor.
As for cheap, I don't think that applys to sidecars. I wach E-bay and even the Velorex will get one or two thousand.
I got lucky and found my rig already set up for $3500. Good luck in your search, you live in a great area for sidecar hunting.
