Not much to see ripped up seat, mess of cut wires, no side pannels, and mud.

New carbs, forks, exhaust, mirrors, handle bars, headlight, marker lights, grips,
gas tank, side panels, sissy bar, rear fender/ tail light, seat, master cylinder,
speedometer, tach, front and rear rims, and left control switch.

A lot better but never finished.

This is my brothers bike that I painted for him. I do a lot of work on it.
And it gets a lot of my second hand parts.

i think the pipes are off a 'glide... i'd have to check through my old ebay emails. They're heavier than i'd like, but at least they're low down. The sound is superb over 4k RPM, and not nearly as obnoxious around town as some of the big-dollar "Kustom Choppers" around here...

Hey Lani,

Those cone filters on the back of your carbs, did that make a huge difference?  Did you have to rejet your carbs and if so what size did you use (112 in both pri/sec)?  If you use the cones do you have to lose the side covers?

That is a sweet idea, i'd like to do that if it made a good difference, curretnly i've got a K&N drop-in in the air box.

Sorry for the thread jack.

Unfortunately, i didn't do the work in a very scientific manner, so it's hard to say... i started with a stock bike that was running a bit "off", tore a whole bunch of stuff off it, left it in pieces for six months, replaced the CDI box and plugs, did the filters, exhaust, jets, and carb rebuild all in one whack, and took it back out... i don't even remember which jets i used, i think i just went up one size The bike feels stronger, especially over 5k RPM, but i don't know how much is just perception, how much was fixing the ignition, how much came from lightening it, and so on...

Honestly, the cones i got, i think they're Emgos, don't impress me much quality-wise... i'm planning to ditch them for foam off-road style filters when i have some money to toss.

That's fine, but with the exception of like two posts everyone is hosting their pics elsewhere (like photobucket) and then posting the image code.

Natrick,

I would be nice if that were true, but unfortunately it is not. Charles specifically requested that when people post pictures in this forum that they do not post large versions of their photos. Unfortunately, many of the pictures posted in this thread are absolute porkers, taking up as much space as hundreds, or in some cases, thousands of text posts. Everyone, please look upon using this site as a privilege, and do not abuse it. If we exceed the limits, the site could very well go away. It is very easy and quick to resize pictures, and if someone cannot be bothered doing that, please do as Rodent did and post your pictures elsewhere and supply the links to them. It is great to see pictures of people's rides..... What isn't great to see is people needlessly chewing up huge chunks of space in the forum because they won't spend a few seconds sizing their photos appropriately.

J.T.

Re: Post Your Ride!

CandySkull 06-14-2008, 8:27 AM
Most moderators say that (no large pics/multiple pics) when they allow uploading because large pictures UPLOADED TO THEIR SITE suck up huge amount of bandwith and serverr space, ergo, costing Charles more money. LINKING photos the size of the rock of gibralter is no problem because it works the same way as a link, displays the image instead of the link, but still uses the third party's bandwith (i.e. photobucket, snapfish, ect...) The general forum rule in most peoples houses is no large pics/multiple pics on my server space/bandwidth. If in doubt, ask Charles. Somehow I don't think he'll have a problem with linked pictures seeing as they cost him no money, and he gets to see some awesome bikes.

If it can be welded, wired, screwed, bolted, or torqued, lemme at it. I'll franken' fab anything.

Re: Post Your Ride!

Natrik 06-14-2008, 8:37 AM
Well said CS. All of the very large pics here are uploaded and hosted on another site. When you upload a pic to this site, even if it is huge (file size), the forum resizes the viewable area down quite a bit. So the big ones on here are taking up zero server space on Charles' site, but are using the hosting site's server and bandwidth. So unless you see a "file attachment" link in the blue strip above the post, the poster uploaded elsewhere, meaning that the pic is taking up none of Charles' server space.
Hope that made sense....

I don't know anything about bandwidth and all that jazz, so if there is something wrong with my pics, let me know and I'll delete the whole shootin' match. Great lookin bike ROne!

An easy solution to the pic thing is if you dont want people posting pics on Charles space than remove the option to post pics. Seems simple enough, no? Then you dont have to thread jack somone to make an issue about it.

Argreed. It will be a shame to see this site go, but with the recent death of Dick, I could see it happen.

Re: Post Your Ride!

Anonymous 06-15-2008, 10:10 PM
CXrider,

Perhaps you may want to become aware of the facts before you start shooting off your yap about hijacking threads.....besides, someone else brought up the point. You must be a newbie on the forum, because if you had been a member for more than just a few days, you would know that Dick passed away recently. This means that we are probably operating without an admin to fix things when they break. Charles has been much too busy to spend much time keeping the site afloat. Phil is likely to be correct about someone breaking the site..... are you to be the one that scuttles the forum?

The deal is this.... Charles was aware of the utility of a forum that allowed posts to include photos so as to illustrate what was being written. He simply asked that people be judicious in their use of photos.....make them a reasonable size, and don't post a whole bunch. He was working from the assumption that we could all regulate ourselves.

About posting photos that are a reasonable size..... If you post a large photo and merely set the size that it displays at, it is still a large photo taking up gobs of space. You must first reduce the size of the photo before posting it (in a manner similar to what many  email programs do) then post the resized photo at reasonable viewing dimensions.

For example, Oookie Wonderslug's post is a decent size to view, yet the photo is only about 64k. It is possible to post useable pictures without breaking the bank. If anyone does not know how to do this, just say so, and I will be glad post a message in the Off-Topic forum explaining how to resize photos for posting.

Please do not stop posting photos, they make a valuable contribution to the site. Just be cool about the amount of space you use.

This site is a valuable resource for thousands of people...... it really would be a shame to have it go away because of a thoughtless few.

J.T.

Re: Post Your Ride!

Cxrider 06-16-2008, 2:33 AM
That was a might bold assumption JT; however, I wont start a pissing contest and flame you back.....so, the comment will end here.

IF and a big if here, Charles decides to no longer host this forum it is possible that one of the senior members of the forum can take over as admin. I dont think Charles is the kind of guy who would be rid of all this resource even in the eye of the difficulties he's currently facing.

just for all who are wondering 800x600 is the maximum resolution for posting pic currently. That being said, try to make your pic posts that size or smaller.
Riding a motorcycle is pure freedom that only those who ride can truely appreciate.

Re: Post Your Ride!

CandySkull 06-16-2008, 4:41 PM
I may just be one of the "new people", meaning I don't care about Dick's death, this site, life in general, or my own mother, but I've been an avid computer dork for a long, long time. That is what you meant about new people, right? We're all worthless pieces of crap that add nothing but anarchy and questionable ethics to the threads, right?

I will repeat what I said earlier. PHOTOS LINKED TO THE SITE VIA HTML CODE <IMG SRC="YOURPIC"> DO NOT TAKE UP CHARLES' BANDWIDTH OR SERVER SPACE.

800x600 is a reasonable enough size, and limited pictures are reasonable as well, but for you to keep harping and flaming over this is retarded. The only people actually using site resources here are well within the posting limit.

Hell, I'm still new enough that my upload restriction is just an avatar. An admin has to give permission for you to photo upload. Do you think they would allow image linking without permission if they were worried about it?

Lastly, as for the forum going down in flames, I may be a "newbie", but bet your ass I'd throw $10 a month at keeping this afloat, and I seriously doubt I'm alone. If you're going to try and moderate, you need to be judicious and regulate yourself. So please, calm down, do a little research, and stop laying into people. Or just kick me off and ban me. Whatever's clever.
I just can't handle an e-mail box full of this b.s. for another day.

If it can be welded, wired, screwed, bolted, or torqued, lemme at it. I'll franken' fab anything.
