Hey guys -

I thought some of you might be into dirt bikes, as well.


Can anybody give me a clue as to where to get a used engine for a 1985 CR 125?

Don't have one.


I've got a chassis, front end, bars, etc with no engine.


This is a project my kid and I are working on. He wants to learn how to build bikes.


The only thing I've come across so far is to buy one of those Chinese Lifan motors and fabricate mounts.

There is an '87 and a '98 on Ebay. There is also a complete '85 that someone is parting out if you need other parts. You could fab up just about any year water cooled engine to work.

Yeah, David, that's what I was hoping for - if the kid wants to learn about bikes, then I want him to learn how to fabricate, as well.

The critical area on those is the rear section of the engine that bolts between the swingarm pivot. You can trim the case to fit or shim it. Then there is pipe fitment, but it can be done.
