Miles per Dollar calculator

I found this handy/interesting calculator on my Ural web board and thought I'd pass it along.

Interesting to learn just how many miles One Dollar buys these days and the trip/commute calculator can be an eye-opener.

The calculator is a lot faster than the way I was doing it with the same results. When I started driving I could go twenty miles per dollar now I am down to 5 miles per dollar. Sure some of you guys use to go a lot more miles for cheap. My truck has a 14 gallon tank so knowing that it use to cost me $14 to fill it compared to now spending nearly $60.

I'm not telling you how old I am, but I sold gas at my part-time job in a gas station when I was in high school for $0.179 per gallon and whe a gas war was on it was $0.149. Of course minimum wage was $0.75 per hour.

I don't think I even want to put my name on this post!

well, I'm 59 (and amazed I've made it THIS long - lol) and I had the good fortune to buy gas during a gas war in a small western Illinois town in the early 70s for $0.17 per gallon.

Remember when the stations would offer premiums with a fill-up to get you to buy their products?

Nowadays it's simply all BOHICA, all the time.
