There is a 82 500 for sale near me for $1,100.00. It is running but had the turbo removed. Condition looks fair, seat looks good, the plastic all looks pretty good, doesn't look smashed or broken anywhere but hard to tell from pics, I would have to look at it to be sure, I think it has been painted, it is red, I never saw a red one before. Says the stator was replaced, but not when.
I wondered what it would be worth parted out on ebay??

Dunno why it was taken off, my guess is that it was worn out, or taken off to be put on another bike in better condition that needed a turbo.

You won't lose money but you probably won't make a huge fortune either.
Items you think would be worthless are money makers. Does it have the original tool kit with no missing pieces? How about the leather bound owners manual? Air pressure gauge that fits in the box with the manual? Original locks, gas cap and painted keys? If it's got those items you'll most likely make your $1100 investment back right there and the rest of the bike is money in the bank.
Whole engines don't get much on ebay due to shipping costs. If you part it, the cam alone may sell for more than the complete engine. Rest of the engine parts may not get much though.
ECU has come down in price but should still sell for at least $100. The ignition modules are worth even more.
The red paint really drops the value on the body panels. If the mufflers are good they can be worth a few hundred.
The big bucks are in parted 650Ts which can pull in well over $10,000 on ebay.
Biggest thing is to present your ebay auctions well. Detailed descriptions and good pictures make a huge difference. Nothing is a bigger turn off than some moron giving a 3 word description like "It looks good" and then one blurry low res picture.
