So I figured out how to get a screen name here finally, sorry to post twice but by all means, ignore the last post I made. If I knew how to delete it, I would. I need to sell the bike to do some car repairs, so I lowered the price in hopes of increasing my chance to sell it. ALSO - Original toolkit is present.
I've owned this bike for
about 4 years, it's a solid bike considering its age. I have it on the
road now, I hate to part with it but I just don't have the time to ride
it anymore. Has a new battery as of last year, just replaced the choke
a couple months ago and the throttle cables last year, and did an oil
change in August. There are no major dents or dings and the bike was
well maintained by its previous owners. Very little rust, I think the only place it is rusty is around the back brake light. There are, however, a couple
things I need to point out:
-the bike failed inspection, for a bad front tire and no brake
lights. I fixed the brake lights, so you will need a new front tire for
the bike.
-I don't know the true mileage of the bike or its engine.
-the seat is tearing (see the picture.)
-There are a couple other mechanical problems, but the bike runs
and I take it around town as much as possible. If it sits for a couple
days, it takes a few tries to get it running. Everything I've read
about it says it's pretty normal for this bike. It is running a little
hot as of late, but has never over-heated and I think it's because I
set the idle a little higher (just lowered it, it seems better but I only took it out once since) and it's been hot outside. It has only happened twice so I can't
figure out what is happening, but twice when it is running a little hot
it and the engine hasn't cooled down it has been hard to start, much
like it's been sitting for a couple days. It could probably use a
radiator flush since I haven't ever done it. It is sold as-is, you can work on these problems or sell for
parts if you want. I've got a sissy bar for the bike, and the Clymer
manual to help you do self-repairs. I have a different pair of pipes, if you wanted to go with
straight pipes instead. I did find them in my parent's garage. You can have my
cover for the bike, too, though I was about to replace that so it's a
temporary fix for you if you want it. I even have an original owners' manual for a 1979 CX500C, in pretty good shape, too.
It is a good starter bike, I learned to ride on it and it's still
reliable, in good working order. I have the Massachusetts title in
hand. If you want to see it, call me at 413-885-0437. I would rather a
phone call because I can't always check my email, so please only email
if you can't call. I live in Western Massachusetts, and the bike is ready to ride.
