New Bars = Cables Too Short
Reply Quote

Ok, so I bought a set of Bikemaster LTD bars for my 78 CX. Went to install them today and found that the control cables (clutch and brake) are too short. The clutch cable on the bike is 36" and the brake line is 38".

The bike was fitted with aftermarket bars when I bought it. They seem a lot shorter than original (the bars, that is). I have a set of 1980 CX bars (didn't like the excessive pullback) so it seems that maybe control cables for a 1980 might work on my 78?

By the way, the throttle cable and electrical cable lengths seem to be just about right.

Does anyone know what the original cables lengths are, and how easy should it be to walk into the bike dealer and say I want cables 4" longer?

Thansk!
