AFAIK (and from discusiions over here anyway) those spoked wheels have to be tailor made to the hub there are no spoked wheels from other bikes that will fit straight on. The front possibly/maybe/dont know, but the rear? I very much doubt it
One of our lot wanted some but quickly went off the idea when he got a quote from a wheelbuilder

I guess it's all in how you look at them! If all you see is a black rim than I guess they could get boring to some! But I saw a little more there. About 5 days each to polish them, but it was worth it. These were still in the process when these were taken.

It was an extremely long process of sanding and dozens of different types of polishing wheels on an air powered die grinder. I found a process a few years ago that dissolves the anodizing off making a little easier to sand off the rims and buff them out to a great shine. These are the only ones I have ever seen polished, but the PITA was worth it in the long run. Thanks for the compliment!

I'm with you, Reg. I think those polished wheels look fantastic, but I know I don't have the patience to do it.

I almost didn't have the patience either. These things were more of a pain than when I did my 78 standard rims. The end of the spokes where they attach to the rim was the worst. Lots of hand sanding and using small jewelers polishing wheels to get in the edges. The nice part of all this is that when they are done, I use a product called MAAS polish on them. It adds such a good film of protection and even adds to the shine, that I don't have to do it more than maybe twice a year. The stuff does wonders to protect the shine and keep me from rubbing on them all the time. I use it on all the polished parts of my CX's and it really lasts.

I tell you what I'll do, Let me get some photos together and I'll put up a post with the process. Most of the equipment I use is air powered and requires an air compressor and some air sanders. But you can do the preparations by hand if need be or an electric vibrating sander. You'll need to order bricks of different grades of compound and polishing wheels also. I'll do a little research and find a few sites that I can add that sell the supplies also. Give me a few days and I'll let you know through this thread when it's up. I'm nursing a torn rotater cuff in my left shoulder right now, so depending on how it feels day to day, I'll find some parts to do with a step by step process OK! As far as the black anodizing on the controls, I found a way to dissolve the anodized finish so it buffs right off. I use Castrol Super Clean to soak the parts in for an hour or so. I have a 5 gallon jug of it from a year ago that I bought to soak parts in. I here that they changed the formula though, so I'm going to go buy some of the new stuff and see how it works. Like I said, give me some time OK. Larry

Eurovee. That looks pretty cool. Nice work on the shaping of the covers. You must have some fabricating equipment available. SEE, I told you it just depends on what you see when you look at these rims Nice work, Hmmmmm....wonder what those would look like Polished

Where did you find spoked rims to fit on it? You must have done some modifying! BTW; nice bike! Hmmm, that might not have been yours, all the pics from that rally show a lot of cool bikes. Looks like fun!

Just my two cents. I like the standard comstar wheels. I was thinking to buy some wheels and try to reverse the reversed wheels back to standards. I also found a CM400 comstar front wheel that 's 2.15 x 18" and missed out on ebay, dang!
Cheers, 50gary

Just an update guys! I'm still working on setting up for the post. I have to polish a few things and take pics at the same time. All I have left is to do a section of a front rim and the process pics as I go. This project is really taking a toll on my shoulder, but I think it's worth it for everyone. POP, oops there goes another vicodin....weeeeeeeeee
