I found a 82 turbo for sale. It makes a noise when the clutch is engaged bike was stored in a basement for a few years. Owner thinks it's just suface rust ? The bike runs great and is nice and it has 15000 miles on it. Also where came you buy windshields?

The clutch is hard to tell. I would ride it a little bit. Give a better definition of noise? Gustaffson (I don't know if I spelled that right)? sells new replacement shields. Some clutches were noisy from the factory, but sometimes the plates stick together after sitting for years. You can take it apart and separate or ride a little and see if the heat off the engine will do the trick. Does the clutch feel "sticky" at all? If you give more info, I will try to answer more thoroughly.

Can I ask what part of the country you are in?

The clutch feels good just makes noise when the lever is pulled in. The bike takes off very good.

Every motorcycle I've ever owned makes a little bit of clatter when the clutch lever is out and bike idling in neutral. Not loud but you can definitely hear the difference.

edit: I meant lever out.

Some CXT's are noisy. Some are quiet. As long as it doesn't sound like a harmful and expensive "rattle" ride it a bit and see what it does. It may clear up, or just be the nature of the beast.

My turbo rattles... The N/A doesn't... of course the N/A actually runs 90% of the time and the turbo seems to be batting a 15% of the time or so... Never bothers me any.

Thanks I will be buying the bike I sent him a down payment. I'll pick it up in a week or so.
Just sold my XL250 R. So things are working out.
Now were to buy a windshield?
It will look great parked next to my Valkyrie.

Hey Dan, good to see that you are back on the forum!
I believe that your source also offers 6", 8" and 10" over options as well.

I tried out the 4" over and it still buffeted my helmet too much. I now have 6" over stock on both turbos, and they seem to be the perfect height (for someone between 5'10" and 6'2"). I probably could have gone with the 8" over, but that length is starting to get a little bit too tall for the look of the bike.

I should probably post some photos.

You probably should... I think I have a 2 over and I'm 6' 4" and ride with my helmet shield half way down...

I suffer from turbulence behind the screen of my turbo, but it seems to be side-turbulence - not overhead turbulence. Try moving your head from side to side - still looking straight ahead. I'm 5' 9" and find the over-the-screen wind about 2" above my helmet, but I can't get away from the side buffeting, no matter where I position my helmet and head sideways.

I'm seriously thinking of adding side- deflectors, similar to what a lot of later Goldwing owners add to their screens.

The aftermarket windshields are wider than stock at the top, and eliminate much of the side to side buffetting as well.
