On the back half of the seat about 6 inches from the end. You can see brackets coming down from the seat. They are about 2 inches wide. 1979 Honda Cx500 Custom    Report

They are about 4 inches behind where the shocks mount, under the seat. Push one side back and pull up on the seat for that side, and then do the other side. The seat will come off then.
