I just made the appropriate holes in the fender so that it would match the ones on the frame and then just bolted them. I also added some 11in short shocks.

I would only recomend that people be careful when adding the short shocks because weight can deffinatelly be an issue and can cause bottoming out. Luckily i just went on a diet. hehe

You HAVE to use FireFox or Camino on this board in order to link to pics or anything else.

Nice work, good fitting.

I've been eyeing that same fender on Oldey's site, and after seeing it on a CX I think it's solidified the idea in my mind. What did the taillight come off of?

If it wasn't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.....

You can find them on ebay for around $30. I've got one on my bobber. There's LED versions as well, but they're a bit more expensive.

Just search for tombstone taillight and you'll have no problems finding one.

All I can say about the rear fender is.....Be Prepared for a Headache!!!!! Honestly, if i coudl do it again, i would buy a metal fender instead because it allows for fabrication. The fender i got was a composite fender and heres the deal.

When you take the seat and fender off of a CX500 custom, the ends of the 'side arms' (what bolds the fenter onto the frame) are wider and get narrower as you get closer to the frame. What does this mean? The composide fender will initially into the side bars but will not, i repeat, will NOT fit the closer you get to the actual frame. So, it wont wrap around the wheel completely. I hat to chop a good chunk off of the fender and it was a pain in the a** to get it to work. Infact, i had to use my trucks car jack to at least widen the side bars so that it would slip in close enough for it to work.

I think that had i bought a metal fender, i could have bent it, plasma cut it, and welded it, as opposed to getting fiberglass in my eye. Its a really cool fender once you get it to work but it was a pain in the butt to 'make it work.'

on another note, i made my own seat...and it only took a trip to the crafts store, the metal junk yard, Autozone, and a plasma cutter. Oh, and it cost me $25 bucks. Its not beautiful, but it is comfortable....and cheap!

Next on the list is a front 'low bobber' style fender....oh yea, and somewhere find a Master cylinder to replace the one on the bike cause its shot.

Short shocks from cycle recycle 2. Youll have to switch out the rubber on the eyelets because if you dont, they wont fit. ...at least that was my experience.

Damn. Thats just about exactly how I want my cx to look! I have a 79' but the crappy brown that will soon be flat black. I'm curious if the fenders from that site would work with the stock seat. I want to keep the option of carrying a passenger along for the ride ;)

Anyone have any thoughts?

I guess anything is possible, but my guess is that it would be a pain. You should find a sportster or a dyna wide glide (like mine) seat. I love mine, and so does my girlfriend!

Sweet bike Natrick. I'll have to look into those seats too. I'm not too crazy about the stock one. Did you get that fender fom the same place as the original poster? Nice paintjob too.

Also, what did that front fender come off of? I love it.
