1981 CX500C REBUILD FOR A FALLEN RIDER

My name is Jeremy and 2 months ago I lost my best friend Steve. He was only 29. Well, late last year we bought a beat up 1981 CX500C from some guy on Craigslist and had a grand idea of rebuilding it and then try to sell it for a profit. Well, after we bought it, we forgot about it and stored in the corner of the garage. I went to his house the other day and picked up the bike from his wife and plan on rebuilding it myself. We had a lot of crazy idea's, like taking a month long trip through Mexico on Kawasaki KL650's, and rebuilding old beat up bikes we find on Craigslist and Ebay. You know, the kind of stuff most of us dream about. I'll rebuild this bike with him watching over me to make sure everything is done right. Rest In Peace my Friend.
Jeremy

I restored a GL-650 I that was owned by a friend that died of diabetes. I'm sure his brother is happy knowing that it is still on the road. It's like a part of him that lives on.

my mom died last year at 59.
I garaged my 66 fairlane and did my first single handed engine removal and rebuild,
and it was utterly, totally, therapeutic.
my best friend died a month after my mom.
I started ressurecting an 82 GL500 so I could visit his wife and kids a little more affodably. I leave for his first year memorial this wednesday. It has proved to have saved my sanity thru this terrible time. I dunno, take your time, and remember, when you have that bike ready, and you are riding, with an ear to ear grin.
He will be right there with you, so happy you made it thru the other side.
