Front Brake caliper.

I need a front brake caliper something fierce. I have bought two of them form the local salvage yard that looked great on the outside. Both of them would close fine but neither would release. Now the yard wont take them back either. Does anyone either; 1: Have one they can part with (for a fee obviously) or 2: Know where I can get a reliable one.

Instead of trying to find a replacement why don't you rebuild them. From experience if they don't release that means that they are rusted around the piston. Hook up to the mastercylinder and pump the piston out with a bowl under it so you don't get brake fluid everywhere. Take out the piston and sand the rust off of it to clean it up. There will probably be a ring around the area that is causing it to stick. Once clean lube it with brake fluid and push it back in.  You can also get a rebuild kit to replace damaged pieces.

Usually a caliper that won't release is okay. It's the tiny pin hole that grows shut inside the MASTER cylinder. Search this site for repair instructions. If all else fails, send me both parts and I'll fix them up for you. Include the necessary new parts kits for each part.

Ditto to the advice above. Tear the thing completely down. I'd use steel wool to clean any rusty / nasty areas up before resorting to sand paper. Clean all the fluid passages carefully.

There is a reason you got them at the JUNK yard.
