New Member with Fairing woes.
Hello. I just picked up a one owner 1979 CX500 Custom recently. It has a Vetter Windjammer Nightstalker fairing on it that I am not very fond of. I tried to take it off and replace the original headlight and turnsignals but I failed. I noticed the way the turnsignals mount they have to slide over the forks. The only ways I figured that was possible would be either to disassemble everything on top of the forks or pull the forks out from the bottom. I was just wondering if anyone had knowledge or advice on how to return to stock. I'd really like to have a less bulky frontend since I am going to use this as my main fair weather transportation. I really love all the different styles and mods I am seeing around this forum. I am very excited to start personalizing my CX as soon as I can convince people it's not half a silver/goldwing.

Re: New Member with Fairing woes.
You should gather the parts you need before you remove the fairing. After removing the fairing and the front wheel, loosen the bolts on the tripletree that pinch the forks. One fork at a time, slide the fork tubes down to where you can get the headlight /turn signal ears over the fork tubes. Reinstall the tubes in the tripletrees. Your new headlight and turn signals mount to these ears. Please e-mail me pictures of your fairing.
Good luck.

I have the installation paperwork to go with it too. After I get around to taking it off I will probably sell it if that is what you are interested in.
