Carb is draining, Float is down???
Reply Quote
I've been reading some older posts about carbs dumping fuel, and thought my issue was the float staying up. I've seafoamed, tapped, and removed the carbs. THe floats are falling as they should.

What elso could possibly make these dump gas like this? Should the drain valve be closed on the bottom of the Carb?

Thanks for the help, Taylor
p.s. Love the forum

Fuel valve not seating properly. Possibly gummed up, misshapen or just not working.
Slits in the overflow stems inside the carb. You can test this by filling them up with water over a sink and if when they are full they start to leak. Look for a small crack down the stem, sand it and solder it back togeather.

If you mean the drain valve at the bottom of the carb that has a small screw in it facing to the left. Yes it should be tight. If it isn't tight then fuel will drain out of the carbs.

and occasionally, just occasionally mind you, as the parts go back in, and the carbs go back on, and if the drain is still closed, I give the carbs a rap with the plastic end of the screwdriver, to "help" get the floats back in their movement range.
