sluggish RPM gauge - is this a problem?

Alright, in my pursuit of a replacement temperature gauge, I got an instrument cluster off ebay. Now I'm not sure the new temperature gauge works, I'll test it on the way to work tomorrow. The one difference I saw right away is that the RPM needle moves much slower to correct speed, and it does not jump as much as the old gauge. When it gets to a reading, it reads just fine, only it takes over a second to get to 2K RPM when I start the bike, the old gauge got there immediately. Should I still use this gauge for my commute in the morning, or might it break something? Thanks, Ayal.

Wow I had that same problem with speedo and tach. I am not sure of a good solution. I sprayed the tach with wd 40 and it responded a bit better but still not the best. Eventually my speedo died so I bought a replacement one, two, three, four, even number 4 died but #3 came with a fully functioning tach and it's worked great.
Theres got to be a way to take the good tach and the good temp gauge and put them together.
You can probably use the tach tomorrow. If it still isn't responding well it shouldn't hurt anything.
My slow tach got better after a ride. But never great.
Be glad it isn't your speedo. My brother an I were riding and I was leading and when we stopped he asked why I was doing 70 in a 45. There were no other cars around and I didn't know I was going that fast but it could have sucked if I got a ticket.

Dude, what were you on? Not knowing the difference between 70 and 45 could cause some legal trouble.

Switched from a half helmet to a full face that day. Besides the bike said I was doing the speed limit.
