leaking fuel
Reply Quote
will try to explain best i can but, if i do not turn the valve off and walk away from the bite after riding it, it leaks fuel out of one of the several drain hoses.  is this a normal thing?  or something needing replaced?

i know, close the valve and it wont happen, but some times the mind fails me.

A few possible problems.
Float not adjusted right
Cracked float bowl overflow stem
Needle valve not seating correctly.

The needle valve could have gotten gunked up or misshapen. Possibly even some crud in there.

Pick up some seafoam for the bike. That should eat away any gunk.
Also you could shut the fuel off, open the drain bolt and let the gas drain out. The causing it not to seat correctly might just fall out.

the bike did sit for a bit ( dont know  how long exactly) before i got it.  will give the seafoam a try, and the draining.  i have put 300 or so miles on it now, and am thrilled with it.  looking forward to winter to tear it down and go thru a solid maintnence hceck and a few mods while it is apart.
