tach question
My tach started making this buzzing sound after about 2 hours at 60mph. the buzz is also noticeable when I hold it. the needle also waivers. I releived the buzz and needle waivering by loosening the cable lock nut but it seems to come back when I turn the steering. It comes back to a lesser degree. then I loosen the locknut and fine again Now,,,I have a new cable that I have yet to put on. maybe it will fix the problem entirely. could the tach itself be the problem? do they go faulty? Has anyone else experienced this buzz?
thanks

Re: tach question
They can wear out and also the pre-packed grease can get hard with age and then the worm drives wear. They aren't hard to replace and they come up on Ebay from time to time if the cable doesn't sort it,

Did replacing the cable fix the problem? Mine is doing the exact same thing. I turned it hard once and it started buzzing. Loosen the nut and will go away but comes back again.
Wondering if it is my tach or my cable.
Let me know what worked for you,
Almost in San Antonio

I ended up replacing the tach with one I took off my parts bike. It`s all good now. Like evereything I guess Tachs have a lifespan. You should get yourself a replacement . one off fleabay.
