Man, how do you guys do it? I was pumped to get my clubman bars installed...finally did, and I took it for the test ride. Is there a certain way ya'll position your self?
After a few miles my wrists were gettin a lil sore from my weight pushin em' into the bars. Any tips on what to adjust? I didn't get to mess with it much b/c I was in a rush to get some other stuff done. Feels alot diff riding lower over the tank like that too, but it looks so good that I'll just have to get used to it.

not sure what else u have done to your bike, but a lower seat would help that. also make sure you are not locking your elbows when u ride. Keep them bent at all times.
Happy Riding!!!!!!!!!!

When I was seventeen I could ride a cafe racer all day and no pains. Now I'm just a tad older and riding my cafe racer Norton is a lot harder on the body. You have to suffer for your art. I think you need at least one bike to pose on, and at least one comfy old mans bike to ride anonimously.

Yes sir. I know I just ruined your weekend, but I'm not the one who blew up their bike Thursday night at the Burnout contest! Have a nice day!

clubman bars on a bike without changing the pegs too is not a great idea. sure, you get "the look" of a somewhat race inspired bike, but it is no fun to ride. did you get the cheapo clubmans or adjustable ones? Have you dented the tank yet? the cx has a stupid wide tank and clubmans will do nothing but beat the crap out of it.
Sell those to the 17 year old down the street, and bet yourself either some superbike bars, or some clip ons.
then, you HAVE TO MAKE SOME REARSET FOOT PEGS! move the pegs up 2-3" and back 4" to 6". you will be much more comfortable, and real cafe racers won't laugh at you. (they laugh, not because your bike is a cx500, but because they know how uncomfortable you have made your bike.)
I hope this doesn't come off too harsh, but i'm used to posting on caferacer.net where we teach with an iron fist.
Shaun
post some pics too.

How'd you make rearsets on the CX? I can't figure out how to move the shifter back, or I'd have made them already. Do you have pictures of yours?

Why don't you just buy CX500 turbo foot pegs and shifter? They are already rearset to the CX500 frame, and I'll warrant whole lot cheaper to adapt than something custom.
Two '82 Turbos, GL650I, CX650C
Why do I own four bikes? Because I'm not married. DUH!

Here's a picture of my "maximum pose value, but not too comfortable" bike:
Here's a picture of my more civilised "old man's comfortable" bike.
I love them both.

i bent some metal and welded the splined end to the new peice. brake peddle i cut and shortened and then welded it back together. I don't have any pics as i sold that bike a few months back. the cx turbo or Euro hardware may be worth looking into though.

When I made the Norton rearsets, I roughed them up out of ally. first, bent and changed them untill I was happy. Then made them up in stainless. What a complete pig to bend! Easy to weld and polish though.

pampadori.. lol you're not coming off mean at all. I read the same stuff over on dotheton.com. Just for having a cx500 I hear it, lol.
Anyways, yeah, I haven't had the chance to make some rear sets yet. I've been busy doing a lot of stuff lately, and plan to begin making a set when I get back from a trip in a couple weeks. I was gonna ask for your pics, but saw that you said you didn't have any (your bike was my desktop background for a good while!)
I was already a bit cramped when I had my old bars/stock setup on. I'm 6'1 and about 265 (free lowering kit) So I plan to make something when I get the time.
Anyone got pics of the turbo rear sets?
