Rhino Lining on my Deluxe...
In my never ending quest to be as unique and crafty as possible, I am contemplating spraying the extra tank I bought, as well as rear fender and side covers with Rhino Lining... pro's/con's?... or just dumb?

Hell, go for it. Somewhere on here is a GL painted with it. I liked it. Sprayed my JEEP with it. I really liked the texture. I thought about doing the hole thing black, knocking down the high points. Then putting a double yellow strip down the middle and clearing over that.  Then parking it in the middle of the street. Thought that would look cool.

If you have the spares go for it. What's the worst thing that could happen. You strip it back down again.

Do it. I was thinking about spraying my frame, tank and plastic with undercoating. I guess rhino lining is prbly the same stuff. It would definatley put function in front of form, and those who get it would appreciate the idea.

It will just abraid the hell out of whatever comes in contact with it, such as your expensive riding britches or your legs if you are a shorts kind of rider, like me. Or your gut, if you are overwieght also like me. Go for it.

If your going to use true Rhino Lining I'd say no, due to the fact that true Rhino lining is way to thick and its damn near impossible to get off once its on. On the other hand there is a product called Xliner that I had sprayed on my Jeep that was thinner and worked out nicely. But I would also agree that is going to abrate the hell out of anything that rubs on it.
Yes sir. I know I just ruined your weekend, but I'm not the one who blew up their bike Thursday night at the Burnout contest! Have a nice day!

Nay for me.
BUT, it works really well for knee grippers in the tank recesses (is that a word?).

My current project bike has some bedliner parts too, fork lowers, center tray, etc. We'll probably hit the sides of the tank with it too, it seems to resist gasoline better than cheap spray paint.
To be honest, wasn't my first choice, but it grew on me as we put it back together.

Here is some advice from someone who sprays these things for a living.  If you do it go with Rhino Liner.  It is not as abrasive as the other bed liners.  What you are looking for is any liner that is sprayed using a low pressure system. High pressure means more abbrasion. You have to worry about colour though. Rhino will fade from black to olive drab if out in the sun for a year or two.  Other that that if the tank is prepped right it will last for a long time.
