Hello
I'm trying to remove the fork tubes to perform a rebuild. I'm following the repair manual i'm sure you all have, and I can't get the fork tubes out. I've loosened all of the screws and I can move the tube up and down. However, I can't slide it out because there are some air nozzles at the top....how do you get those off? Just unscrew the cables and it will slide down?
Thanks
RAlph

Hi, Ralph. I don't think the CX came with air front shocks, just the GL. That is probably why you are not finding mention of them in your repair manual. But since you have them I'm guessing they are aftermarket add ons. Either way, yes, you are right you need to get the air tubes out of the way and slide the fork tubes down through.
Here is a link that spells out front fork repair very well: http://www.elsham.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cx500/front_forks_seals/

I replaced the oil seal and rubber boots, I filled each fork with about 200cc of ATF, inflated to 16 PSI. When I sit on the bike and press down the suspension compresses and doesn't expand back to full length unless I get off the bike completely....this shouldn't be happening right? What did I do wrong? I don't hear any air coming out...i guess it could have leaked out?

You will have a little bit of sag with you sitting on it. This is normal. The springs might be a little weak if they have a lot of miles on them and/or had a heavy owner before.
