Oil leak from fan?
Reply Quote
During the last oil change, I traced a trail of oily dirt and grime all the way up to where the fan bolts to the front of the engine, and low and behold, there was a small rubber ring chewed through and wedged between parts of the radiator housing... I have tried to locate the specific part from various websites with full schematics, but have had no luck. Any help in terms of identifying the part from the pics would be greatly appreciated....

Hi,

That piece of rubber looks like a piece of trim from the radiator cowl and may not be related to your oil leak at all. The oil leak is almost certainly the oil seal on the end of the camshaft behind the fan which has more than likely hardened with age. Once the fan has been removed you can change the seal without removing the tacho/cam bearing housing.
