It will work but it will neither be comfortable nor look good. It will also make the bike handle like crap, so why bother?

The only benefit to doing this is being able to lower the rear to whatever height without having to buy shorter shocks. My bike is rigid and is not uncomfortable and it handles very well, but the frame was made with "rigid' in mind. It has a lot of stretch and a huge solo seat with big springs. I would not think it would be all that great on a stock frame and seat, but what the hell, what you are talking about technically would work. Try it and see what it does. You may like it.?.

The nice thing about going the solid strut route is if you hate it, all you have to do is un-bolt them and put some shocks back on.

Mine's rigid and doesn't even have a spring seat. For any ride under 1 to 1 1/2 hours it's not bad at all. Longer than that and you'll want some breaks to get the feeling back in the old behind.

well guys i put about 400 miles on it this weekend and contrary to popular belief it actually rides as good as it did with shocks (except really big bumps) but all tohether the ride is pretty good like i say though i weigh in at 280 lbs so i have the weight to put some bounce into the tire

and for some reason my wife cant find our digital camera so unfortunatly no pics yet but i think yall will like it

That's what I keep telling people when they make comments about my hardtail. If the pothole is big enough to spot coming up the road, you just avoid it. The little stuff is barely noticeable.
