My new sidecar .... !!!!!!

Attachment: trailer-3.JPG
Reply Quote

Just bought a new sidecar for my CX - actually my bike fits inside it - and can even bring a horse along in case of a break-down <smiles> ....... Aye, a "double wide horse trailer" ....... and as this is the customizing section - figure it fits better here - as I plan on putting double dutch doors on the back, can actually fit 2 bikes on one side (12ft long) - and customize the other side with sliding windows, a cot, table, chairs and basic camper ...... and don't have to crouch as over 7ft high ........  so that's my plan, and along with a gallon of paint - I think it will come in very handy for storing my bike in the winter - (much better than my kitchen) ........  so for now here's a pic of my new sidecar project <LOL> ...

Cheers,

Bryan

Best part is it's licensed and inspected till next June - so everything works -  and picked it up for under $1,000. - so cheaper than a sidecar ....... now all I need is a horse to haul it around <grin> ......

Cheers,

Bryan

Aye Tome, was thinking about it - but probably will sell the wagon and buy a truck or preferably a jeep ..... yet also remember I'm not hauling two horses - just the bike and some camping gear ...... and will be lightening the frame to aluminum, and replacing the wood floor with aluminum ...... this is only the starting point of my customizing - yet believe a lot easier n' cheaper than from scratch ......

Cheers,

Bryan

Aye Tom - but also like the idea of another project - as I'm getting bored sitting around waiting for car parts - and not ready to do any house reno's till I get my wagon finished ....... so that I can haul the materials ..... damn lumber company want's $75. to bring even a sheet of ply 4 miles ....... so, know I probably change my plans with the wind, but have thought this through - in fact, was planning on building a camper trailer last year - but never had the finances ....... so now's my chance - and hopefully will be able to enjoy many weeks of travel (with my doggie n' bike) ....... ie: thinking of crossing Canada with stops along the way ..... along with more trips around the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton - and going to next year's Amish Rally in style <grin> ....

Cheers,

Bryan

Bryan, that thing is made to carry the load right over the axle...horses! You have plenty of room to extend the back end a few feet and still keep it balanced. It would give you more room to build your luxury camper. I think it's a cool idea! Rock on!

Thanks Larry - never even thought of that - but good idea - n' reason I have this in the customizing forum <grin> ....... geeze, I was looking at other horse haulers - and couldn't believe the prices - even used these things sell in the $5 to $10 K range ....... so a steal at $1K ......

Cheers,

Bryan

Actually Larry - instead of extending the trailer - what do you think about me making a canvas covered roll out awning for the back - that way can enjoy the fresh air, and put a picnic table or bbq under ????  May even sleep under the stars !!!!!

Cheers,

Bryan

Can't wait to get it here and tear it all apart and start customizin' it ...... and always accepting more suggestions - as my ol' brain can be stubborn at times - but I do take everything to heart and listen ....... leastwise till I figure out a possibly better solution ........  and even then I don't act too quickly as it takes another dozen brews to totally convince me <smiles> ....

Cheers, n' Happy Campin' Trails Ahead,

Bryan

I once upon a time followed a horse trailer just like that. The tail was blowin' in the wind and right below was a sign that said: "Don't Be What You See."

So, when you redo the back doors on that trailer to fully enclose it, paint a horse's arse on it and add those words below.

Bryan, If you made the back door a laydown type door, there would be your ramp for loading bike and a floor for your canvas roofed porch. You prob already thought of that though.
