'79 CX500 Custom for sale - New Hampshire
I'm torn to be selling my bike after such a short time with it. It is in fine running condition and I have been riding it daily since April this year. Prior to that time it had an unspecified number of owners who took reasonable, although not perfect, care of the bike.

I am selling the bike because although it is running, it's showing signs of age and will need attention that I am not capable of giving it. I believe the water pump seal will need replacement, the right side head seal will need replacement, and the cam chain tensioner needs adjustment. None of these issues are at the point of crippling the bike, and it has been checked by a professional mechanic twice this year. As he said, "There's seepage, leakage, and weepage. You've got seepage."
I ride the bike daily and everything works perfectly. The bike has a nice sound to it, shifts and accelerates smoothly and brakes work nice. Tires are in good shape.
The seat has several tears in the cover, but the cushion is still decent. The rear directionals are custom, easy enough to remove and replace with originals. I ordered a set of what was advertised as "1979 CX500 rear signals" from eBay, and they do not mount on my bike, either because they're from a different year or because of differences between the Custom and standard or Deluxe models. I will include these signals should you wish to have them. The current custom signals work well and are reasonably visible.
Also, the bike is in good enough shape that a cosmetic restore should be simple for someone with the right tools. There is little rust for its age (could be worse, for sure).

It's listed on craigslist currently.

Bike is still for sale. Anyone from this forum will be offered a very reasonable price. I'm still riding the bike as often as possible, but I get my new bike tomorrow. I'd like to give the CX a home sooner than later.
