2nd Annual Twin Cities Spring Ride and Barbeque

Randall-in-Mpls 03-27-2009, 10:26 AM
The nascent Minnesota Transverse Twins Association will hold its

                 2nd Annual
Twin Cities Spring Ride

        Saturday, May 9, 2009

Meet at my house beginning at 8:30 AM, departing as close to 9:00 as we can manage.

This year's route will take us to the Dennis Kirk Retail Store in Rush City, down the St.Croix valley to a brief rest stop in Taylors Falls, continuing on Highways 95 & 96 back to my house for a potluck* barbeque.  (Refrigerator space will be available.)

Families and friends are welcome (for the ride, the party, or both.)

Please post here (or email me) to RSVP.

Thanks,

R

I'll be there, Randall. thanks so much for putting this together.

Dish wise I'm thinking goose kabobs. Something few have tried but everybody likes!

Also, I can bring over a gas BBQ if needed.

Thanks, Wayne.  Goose-kabobs sound intriguing.

I have a natural-gas grill and a propane grill (that I need to rehab before May.)  We should have plenty of capacity.

Will Mrs. Wayne be joining us after the ride?

Just saw your Craig's List posting, good idea.

Hi Randall,

I will be there, I have put in for the day off. But if it isn't a warm and sunny day, my bride says that she will stay home.

I will bring something to share.

Wayne,

If I can use your stove I will bring along some of my special chocolate chip cookie dough and then I will ask your wife to deliver them to me at the picnic ... I am a pretty good salesman. If necessary I can bring a brownie mix too so that there is too much to fit on a motorcycle ...

Greg,

I will call Joyce Saturday morning and try to convince her to come along on the ride or at the least to join us at the food fest so I can visit with her. I mean it will be over a years since I have seen her.

Dave, those bikes do have a load limit! After the riders get your cookies inside them you may have some blown forks or flat rear shocks! It sounds like you guys in the Land of 10,000 Lakes are going to have a great ride! Wish I could be with you, just too far for me this year.

I was at Midwest Cycle Supply on Saturday and overheard the clerk shout to the repair shop, "bring up this guys Silverwing".
I thought, "I should ask him to the ride". But, turns out he drives the new Silverwing not the old SilverWing. I didn't invite him, figured he wouldn't fit in...

We're one month out, tomorrow.

I've gone through the forum member list to identify members from Minnesota, and I'll be emailing invitations in the next couple days.

If you're in Minnesota but your profile doesn't show that, I probably missed you, so post here.  If you are out of state but want to join us, please post here.

I'll start a running list of attendees after the emailed invitations go out.

Thanks,

Fixed the mystery oil pressure fluctuation problem on my truck tuesday and I'm putting a new exhaust on friday so it will be ready for a ride and then I can focus more on the bike. Got a tire waiting for balancing weights for the bike and a few other parts so I should be ready to go in a month.

Oil pressure problem was actually a $7 sensor. If only all problems could be that simple.

As a Bemidji, MN native I'd like to get on this list for the future.  As a current SW Colorado resident however,  it's highly unlikely I can get to this years gathering.  Count me in for upcoming MSP events and I'll keep working on the old 78, see you all next time around!

I'm a tentative yes and two guys I know also ride CX500's and might be interested.  My yes depends on the antifreeze leak- pretty sure I need to do a seal replacement before May.

Randall,
Depending on the "must list" I would be real interested in meeting the group at Dennis Kirk-if that is a stop on the way out. Then do lunch and boogie home.
A definate maybe.

Thanks to all who've responded.

I finally got my emails out to the locals or near-locals that I haven't heard from.  That's 23 by direct email, 34 to forum IDs (Ugh, no batch mailing) and 7 to Craigslist contacts who haven't RSVPed.  My apologies if you already responded, but got an email anyway (I know there were a couple.)  If you haven't responded, but didn't get an email, you're not uninvited.  I just missed you somehow.  Please post here.

In a couple days, I'll post a list of planned attendees.

Thanks again,

R

Mike,

The barbeque will likely be mid- to late-afternoon.  We'll probably make a quick lunch stop in Taylor's Falls.  If the barbeque is too late, you could meet us at Dennis Kirk and ride with us as far as Taylor's Falls, or to our turn-off just north of Stillwater.

Randall....

Just a bit of FYI for you.......

Last night (4/15) at work a guy came over to the hardware desk to get a key made. He had a helmet w/him and he told me he needed a copy for his bike...a Honda. So I asked him what he was riding and he told me what it was, but seeing as how it wasn't a CX or GL I don't remember what he told me......however when I told him what I ride, he says "did you know there is a 'club' in town for that model of Honda?" I said no, but that I belonged to an on-line group. He then ays that this 'club' was going on a ride in May and I said "on the 9th?" and he said yes.
So word about our group and the Twin Cities chapter is getting out there !!!!

See you all on the ride
